Thanks for taking the time to check out our new website! Many of you may not know about the history of our quaint little eatery. My cooking career started while a student at Appleton West High School back in 1972. I worked at The Grill Restaurant, a long time business in downtown Appleton. Upon graduation, I attended Fox Valley Technical College for a year to decide if I wanted to become a 'chef '. The idea of working nights, holidays, and weekends didn't exactly fit in with plans to eventually marry and have a family. I decided to keep working and someday manage The Grill. In 1983 that business was closed in order to make room for Houdini Plaza. While being "Mr. Mom" with our two and four year old children, I put together a business plan and continued to work part-time.

After much prayer and planning, the 'Diner' opened it's doors February 18th, 1985, despite three months of delays. Community support was overwhelming, and we quickly went from 11 to 20 employees. Over the past 35 years we've had the privilege of serving and getting to know thousands of wonderful people and their families. In fact, we are now seeing a third generation of Diner patrons.

Being a small business owner, I felt compelled to support other independents in the area by utilizing their quality products. Some of my suppliers include Jacob's and Niemuth's Meat Markets, Manderfield's Bakery, Lamers Dairy, and Humpty Dumpty Eggs. We feel this support not only strengthens our community, but also provides the freshest of products to enhance your dining experience. I invite you to stop in, taste the difference, and meet some of friendliest servers in the Fox Valley area. We hope to see you soon!
